Sometimes people consider themselves spiritual and sometimes not. But if we define spirituality as relating skillfully with reality, then I think everyone probably wants the spiritual approach. It seems like the word spiritual has been co-opted as a opposition of worldly – but this is not at all the case in the Shambhala tradition and approach.
If we get into defining what skillful means, it means we are compassionate and not causing so much suffering for ourself and others. That’s what we all really want, and if we don’t want that, and are only interested in our own benefit and don’t care about how we impact others, we are simply immature and confused and could really use a “spiritual” approach and vision.
