The Living Sadhana Cohort Program features seven month sections that explore the different stages of the path, which are transmitted through embodied gestures, with weekly live gatherings, recorded supporting materials, a study guide, peer group exploration, and daily opportunities for meditation practice. With a sequential lesson format and frequent instructor feedback through one on one meetings, students are encouraged to explore the variety of tools and techniques necessary to advance their practice into their growing edge. The course is designed for a personalized student experience, and each section is related to the individual’s life and particular style, while offering extensive instruction on the technical aspects of classical meditation training. The Living Sadhana Cohort Program is also a manifestation of Nick Kranz’s passion for creating engaging dharma gates that are fun to practice, creative, social and in harmony with nature and the planet.

The Living Sadhana Cohort Program encourages students to explore their passion for meditation through an open-minded approach founded on traditional meditation practices enacted with individual creativity. This course is designed to equip each student with the techniques that comprise the study of the Gradual Path as taught in Tibet, while providing them with the support and encouragement to feel empowered in their practice, and to encounter their daily life creatively, as a practice.
With more than 20 years of experience as a Senior Meditation Teacher and as the Founder of Social Meditation, Nick Kranz creates course content in line with his classical background, having trained with Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, Khandro Rinpoche, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, Mingyur Rinpoche, Ato Rinpoche and many other great Tibetan Lamas. Each lesson fuses the fundamental techniques of Tibetan Buddhist and Shambhala approaches, with the creative experimentation showcased by Social Meditation practiced around the globe. Students will not only learn all of the practical aspects of Buddhist studies, but expand their outlook on how these practices can more appropriately land in our modern individualistically conditioned societies. This encourages freedom regarding practice altogether, and creative possibilities when implemented in daily life.

Prior meditation experience is not mandatory nor required to enroll in The Living Sadhana Cohort Program, and our course is designed to welcome students of all levels. However, it should be noted that our program is comprehensive and intensive and covers a wide range of techniques and skills and depth of view and philosophy. Along with covering the basics of meditation instruction, including mindfulness and awareness, the course will also cover artful use and implementation of practices on the spot in our life with innovative techniques. Students will become familiar with a wide range of practices including compassion, offering, calling down blessings, working with pure perception of the sacred world, and working with sense perceptions, imagination and being in Nature. As always, we encourage peer learning; however, we empower students to have tools and confidence to practice on their own. This also includes training in making suitable adjustments to our personal practice where needed. Students are guided through various techniques in group practice, in order to produce an experience similar to that of a meditation community environment, but within the convenience and familiarity of their own home environment.

The Living Sadhana Cohort Program operates in an online platform, to which there are many advantages. The curriculum’s fresh approach teaches specific skills in each online gathering, and the format allows each student the space to develop and pursue their own creative perspective and work with their own personal growth edge. While the course will be completed from home rather than on site, resources include multiple live gatherings each week, in-depth video and audio teachings, an abundance of student resources, instructor feedback and online support from the Living Sadhana Cohort. It is an ideal learning environment for students to form and build a strong foundation of knowledge and experience and know-how, connecting with amazing fellow practitioners from anywhere in the world, that otherwise could not gather in this way. Our online cohort platform encourages the intersection of myriad perspectives, strengthening the overall learning experience through connection and communication. Cohort peer interaction helps participants to learn from and support one another. Access to this diverse online community enhances the collective creativity of the Cohort, serving as a bridge between like-minded students and an opportunity for future possibilities.

The Living Sadhana Cohort curriculum’s extensive refined instruction fuses the classic building blocks of meditation training, with The Living Sadhana’s own unique style of creative innovation, and evolved contemporary techniques as practiced in social meditation. All lessons are supplemented with a cohort Voxer audio chat group to provide students with comprehensive guidance and clear instruction and dialog. Integrated videos and direct instructor feedback create the ideal platform to build one’s practice. The curriculum’s fresh approach teaches specific skills in each course, but also encourages students to develop and pursue their own reactions and particular needs in encountering the material.
The Program features step-by-step live sessions and retreats led by Nick Kranz, along with group practice time, and cohort led exploration sessions.
