“In the Indotibetan Buddhist tradition the charnel ground is a place where the raw reality of samsara is exposed, where death, decay and the drama of life are not sanitized away into special buildings so no one is seen. Rather the charnel ground is the whole display of birth, death and life, survival, fear, and transcendence all mingled in the reality of impermanence and auspicious coincidence. This very powerful version of the world as teacher is accessed when the practitioner intentionally goes to places that are scary and powerful. We will explore how to relate to this in our practice together.”
